Conquer your IP!
Definition from Google:
Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce.
So what’s the importance of your IP? Well, tons. For one, it’s something of your own creation, your baby if you will. Protecting it at all costs is very important right? Of course!
So why create and not just draw/write other peoples IP’s for fun?
You can, for experience! But imagine you spending half your lifetime creating and even expanding major companies characters and creating more of an influence for future creators to do so which creates competition too. Then your portfolio is full of fan art and the only thing to show for it is that you’re good at drawing other people’s stuff.
To all creators, start your own IP ASAP! The way these companies are treating and running classic IP’s into the ground isn’t by stupidity, it’s clearly by design. Focus on the most important part of creative greatness, YOU!
Stop wasting your time today and wake up knowing that you could be the creator of the next best thing out there. I’m not saying to never do another Fan Art piece ever, just don’t make it your focus. Create for you and your future. You’ll thank yourself you did one day. Hope this helps.
